Starting the design sheets
Today I started my first design sheet and I focused on rust. This is because the colours of the door I designed are inspired by rust.

Art as a message - banksy

The other amazing thing about banksy is that no one has ever seen his face. He is a massive question mark in the art world and is spoken about a lot on social media sites and blogs. For example when I look on Twitter and type banksy in I can see that every minute there is a new tweet about him.

York- personal research
Today I went on a trip to York which really inspired me on the new project doors which we have. There was so many good photo opportunitys so this is where I've done most of my photographs. I really loved how aged the doors where that I looked at because they are the doors that interest me more. However there was a lack of modern looking doors which is what the company is looking for. Here's a few of the pictures I took;
Rust, wood, mould and texture
LI have taken a real interest in the older looking more worn out doors that I have seen on my travels and I decided I wanted to go into more detail of the natural decaying and aging of the doors, the acts of nature and rusting of metal. I though it was really interesting to draw and research these things and I really enjoyed making visual mind maps on the theme. Looking and natrual things like mould, ivy and weeds growing around houses and also the rusting of things such as locks and door knobs on doors. Another thing I looked at was the rotting of wood and how effective it looks.
theme
I decided today to work on the theme of 'let the outside in' and trying to think of my own take on it. I started thinking about things such as nature, Windows, lighting. Then from them ideas I created visual mind maps of my ideas which can hopefully be encourporated into my final designs.
New project doors! Studio practice
Today I got given my new project which is 'doors' (let the outside in),(distinction doors). I started off the day by doing a mind map on all that distinction doors wanted me to do and deciding where to go with it. I planned out what I needed to think about and how I would do it. This helped me be a lot more organised then roughly designing a few sketches and ideas.
