Today I started a piece on some wood I found near my bin. This piece of wood was part of an old cupboard and I thought it would be really interesting to work on top of. I decided to create an effect on the wood that made it look like paint was chipping off. This was really cool to do and I created this using gouache paint as it gets very dry and is prone to cracking. I put a lighter colour underneath then covered that in the darker black which meant the lighter colour would show through all the cracks formed with the heat gun. I then worked into the piece using sand paper to make the wood look more aged and as if it was something that had naturally just cracked and weathered instead of a painting. I'm really happy with the outcome overall.
